Madonna Reveals Why She Never Reported Her Rape

Madonna first spoke out about being raped in the November 2013 Daring Issue of Harper's BAZAAR. The singer bravely admitted to having a difficult first year after moving to New York at the age of 19:

"New York wasn't everything I thought it would be. It did not welcome me with open arms. The first year, I was held up at gunpoint. Raped on the roof of a building I was dragged up to with a knife in my back, and had my apartment broken into three times."

Now, Madonna is opening up more about her traumatic experience and why she never reported the rape. While promoting her new album Rebel Heart on the Howard Stern Show, Madonna revealed more about the assault:

"I was going to a dance class and the door was locked and I needed money for the payphone. [A man] gave it to me…he was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody. I was raped. The first year I lived in New York was crazy."

Addressing the issues of many rape victims, Madonna explained why never pressed charges or contacted the police, "You've already been violated. It's just not worth it. It's too much humiliation."
