Can’t stop, won’t stop groovin! Taylor Swift put on a spectacle for her performance of “Shake It Off” at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, held Sunday, Aug. 24, at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
The singer, 24, appeared onstage in a skimpy sequined crop top and matching fringe mini skirt. Trailed by dozens of men in suits, Swift pushed and pulled them in a domino effect as they ceded to her every move.
Swift flurried her way into the spotlight, and rose onto a platform area where the many men stood below awaiting the singer’s jump. “One second,” Swift said to the crowd. “I don’t care if it’s the VMAs, I’m not jumping off. People are getting bit by snakes, it’s dangerous.” (Swift was referring to a VMAs rehearsals incident when one of Nicki Minaj‘s dancers was bitten by a boa constrictor on Friday, Aug. 22.)
Swift ended her performance with a sequin shower, as celebrities in the audience like Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez smiled.

“Shake It Off” is Swift’s first single on her upcoming fifth studio album, the pop-centric 1989.
“This new album was a rebirth for me,” the singer told fans. “I was listening to a lot of late ’80s pop.. so being inspired by that, I started delving into the late ’80s. It was apparently a time of limitless potential… be who you want, wear what you want, do what you want.”
